Roderick Hidalgo's work is influenced by his childhood memories of working in his grandmother's corner store. The first time he visited a candy store as a child, he was struck by the visual stimulation and endless possibilities presented by the colorful displays and sweet aromas. These experiences helped shape Hidalgo's approach to his work, from his organizational skills, use of tools, and consideration of materials, to his aesthetic style.

His recent works, such as "Gummies are Forever" and "Holo³", embody the innocence and wonder of childhood and represent the challenges and triumphs of life. Made from encaustic, resin, and pigments, these works invite viewers to relive their own childhood memories of joy and wonder and to embrace the simplicity and purity of their unspoiled desires
